Yum Cha… more like YUUMMYY Cha!!

So traditionally, Yum Cha is a Chinese morning or afternoon tea with a lot, and I do mean A LOT of food. It is time to get together with friends and family and enjoy a variety of dumplings, noodles, rice, sweets and tea.
Ok, lets just call it a Chinese brunch please.

My quest to unearthing the best Vegetarian options in Dubai took me to one such Yum Cha at The China Club at the Radisson Blu Hotel in Deira.
For as little as Dhs 99, you get a selection of traditional Chinese dumplings, soup, salads, rice and desserts with unlimited ice teas and soft drinks.

And since pictures are worth a thousand words, here are 90 thousand of them 🙂

On the menu:

Green Tea, Lemon and Lychee Ice Tea, assorted soft drinks, 2 kinds of steamed vegetable dumplings, 5 kinds fried vegetable dumplings, vegetable noodles, glass noodles, mix vegetable stir-fry, vegetable fried rice, vanilla Ice-cream with lychee, mango pudding, chilled coconut cream with Sago pearls (sabudana), green tea pudding.

Hits:

Fantastic flavored Ice teas, the second batch of Lychee was a bit too sweet though.
Both the seamed dumplings were delicious as were the noodles. The vegetable stir-fry was done well, the veggies were crispy enough. There was one very interesting dumpling/dessert, it was fried custard. Not very sweet and a delight with the chilly dip.
I loved the Mango pudding, it was not too sweet and full of flavor. The Coconut cream was nice, it had a delicate coconut flavor with sabudana in it.

Misses:
The fried dumplings were a bit oily. You could skip those along with the fried pumpkin and sesame balls that were just too sticky and no particular flavor. Fried rice was again too bland and sticky. There was nothing new in the vanilla ice-cream with 2 pieces of Lychee in a bowl although it was refreshing. I did not like the Green tea pudding at all, it was too sweet and that killed the delicate flavor of the Jasmine tea that was supposed to be in it.
